Level: Introductory to Intermediate
Who It's For: Licensed mental health professionals and mental health professionals-in-training (e.g., LMFT, LPC, LCSW, psychologists, school counselors) working with children, adolescents, and families. Prior play therapy coursework is helpful but not required.
This 6-hour, single-day training prepares play therapists to integrate bibliotherapy, the therapeutic use of books and story, into both directive and non-directive clinical work. Participants will examine the theoretical and empirical foundations of bibliotherapy, build book-selection and developmental-matching skills, address cultural and ethical considerations in text selection, and apply their learning to a representative case through guided practice. Participants will leave with a working bibliotherapy resource library framework, practical session-integration strategies, and a completed sample treatment plan.

Presenters:
Jamie Watson, LMFT, RPT-S™ brings over 15 years of experience working with neurodivergent children and families, including those navigating developmental differences and complex trauma. Jamie is a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™, an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, certified AutPlay Therapy Provider, and certified in Foster and Adoptive Family Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She also has training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and has long integrated play-based and attachment-centered interventions into her work. Jamie currently serves as the Clinical Operations Director at Wild Peloria, while running a consultation and supervision practice supporting pre-licensed and seasoned therapists nationwide.
Sarah Moran, LMFT, RPT-S™ is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor™, AAMFT-Approved Supervisor Candidate, and certified AutPlay Therapy Provider and Supervisor practicing in Olympia WA. She specializes in neurodivergence and supporting children and their families through change (including grief/loss, adoption, divorce, medical trauma, and chronic illness). Sarah previously held the position of president of WAAPT and has authored several chapters contributing to the field of Play Therapy and AutPlay Therapy.
