SUPERVISION AND CONSULTATION
Starting out in the field or leveling up your skills is a big deal. And let’s be honest: supervision isn’t just a checkbox on the way to licensure. It’s a space that should feel supportive, collaborative, and growth-focused. The relationship you build with your supervisor can shape how you show up in the room with clients, how confident you feel in your decisions, and how you care for yourself while doing hard, meaningful work.

That’s why it's so important to find someone who gets you (your values, learning style, goals, etc.). Supervision is a real investment of time, energy, and vulnerability, and you deserve a space that feels like a good fit.

If you’ve landed here, welcome. I’m glad you’re exploring whether I might be the right partner for this stage of your journey. I won’t be the perfect match for everyone, and that’s okay. This page exists to help you get a feel for my style and whether we’d work well together.

A little about me: I’m an approved supervisor through the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT), the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and the Washington State Department of Health. I’m also a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™ (RPT-S™) through the Association for Play Therapy.

I offer virtual supervision and consultation through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform, and occasional in-person meetups are an option for those nearby. My supervision approach is collaborative, practical, and strengths-based. I support therapists in areas like:

-
Building clinical confidence and skill
-
Reflective practice and case consultation
-
Sharpening documentation and streamlining procedures
-
Navigating the ups and downs of clinical work and private practice
-
Managing burnout and tending to self-care
-
Clarifying long-term goals and prepping for exams or credentialing

Supervision Philosophy
Supervision, to me, is a relationship—one rooted in collaboration, curiosity, and trust. I don’t believe in just giving you answers or checking boxes. Instead, I aim to create a space where we can slow down, think critically, and explore your clinical work in a way that feels both supportive and empowering.

My approach is reflective and strengths-based. I want you to feel safe bringing in the messy, complex parts of this work—because that’s where the growth happens. Together, we’ll dive into case conceptualization, ethics, documentation, and private practice development, but also make space for conversations about self-doubt, burnout, and staying connected to the kind of therapist you want to be.

I try to strike a balance between structure and flexibility, challenge and care. Supervision should feel useful, honest, and energizing—not just another task on your to-do list. Whether you’re just starting out or refining your clinical voice, I’m here to walk alongside you as you grow.

SUPERVISION VS. CONSULTATION
It’s important to know the difference between supervision and consultation, especially when seeking support for your clinical work.

Supervision applies when I hold legal and ethical responsibility for your work, typically when you’re pursuing licensure as an LPC or LMFT. In this role, I support your growth while ensuring compliance with state board requirements.

Consultation is a collaborative, non-clinical relationship where I provide guidance, resources, and feedback based on my experience and expertise. I don’t hold legal responsibility for your work, but I’m here to help you think through cases, refine your approach, and develop professionally.
Consultation can be scheduled as needed or on a more regular basis, depending on what you’re looking for. Whether you're seeking clinical insight, systems support, or private practice guidance, consultation is a flexible way to grow in your work and better serve your clients.

Ultimately, the nature of our work together- your licensing status, goals, and needs- will determine whether we’re engaging in supervision or consultation. If you’re unsure which applies, I’m happy to help you sort that out.
Theoretical Orientation & Areas of Expertise
My clinical work is rooted in a person-centered and child-centered foundation, guided by the belief that people have an inherent capacity for growth, healing, and resilience. I integrate unconditional positive regard, empathy, and authenticity into every therapeutic relationship, believing these are essential conditions for meaningful change.
In my play therapy work, I blend directive and non-directive approaches based on the child’s developmental needs and presenting concerns. I draw primarily from Attachment Theory, Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Adlerian Play Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I also incorporate creative, somatic, and experiential interventions, such as school-based and portable play therapy, bibliotherapy, emotional and behavioral regulation strategies, and body-based work.
My approach is always systemic. I believe that lasting change doesn’t happen in isolation, which is why I prioritize caregiver involvement and support. My expertise includes treating emotional dysregulation, trauma, anxiety, behavioral concerns, and neurodivergence in children and adolescents. I also provide consultation and support around parent-child relationships, family systems, and developmentally responsive care.

Types of Supervision, Consultation, and Mentoring I Offer
Play Therapy Supervision & Consultation
I offer play therapy supervision and consultation to professionals across the U.S. who want to deepen their work with children or are pursuing the Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™/SB-RPT™/RPT-S™) credential. Whether you're just getting started or seeking advanced case consultation, we’ll focus on developmentally attuned, child-centered care. To learn more about RPT™ credentialing, visit the Association for Play Therapy.

State Licensure Supervision (LPC, LMHC, LMFT)
I provide individual supervision for pre-licensed therapists in Oregon and Washington working toward LPC, LMHC, or LMFT licensure. We’ll focus on clinical growth, ethical decision-making, documentation, case conceptualization, and helping you build a strong foundation for sustainable, values-driven work in the field.

Group Supervision & Consultation
I facilitate group supervision and consultation spaces for both pre-licensed and licensed therapists. Groups provide space for clinical discussion, shared insight, and professional support. Topics often include play therapy, working with neurodivergent clients, systemic approaches, and real-life clinical dilemmas.

Supervision of Supervision (AAMFT/OBLPCT)
For those working toward supervision credentials through AAMFT or state boards in Oregon or Washington, I provide mentoring and supervision-of-supervision to support the development of your supervisory identity, structure, and confidence. We’ll also cover the documentation, ethics, and real-world logistics involved in supporting your own supervisees.

Private Practice Mentoring & Clinical Documentation Support
In both supervision and consultation, I provide guidance around building or growing a private practice—from navigating credentialing and systems setup to clarifying your niche and streamlining your workflow. I also support supervisees in strengthening their clinical documentation skills to ensure their notes are ethically sound, defensible, and efficient—without losing the heart of the work.
